Quantitative Data – Parametric & Non-parametric Tests
نویسنده
چکیده
Assumption for 1 sample T test: Data are normally distributed. We have discussed in the last article on how to check the normality assumption of a quantitative data. One issue being highlighted was that these formal normality tests are very sensitive to the sample size of the variable concerned. As seen here, table II shows that the normality assumptions for both the systolic and diastolic blood pressures are violated but basing on their histograms (see figure 1), normality assumptions are feasible.

Comparison of Parametric and Non-parametric EEG Feature Extraction Methods in Detection of Pediatric Migraine without Aura
Background: Migraine headache without aura is the most common type of migraine especially among pediatric patients. It has always been a great challenge of migraine diagnosis using quantitative electroencephalography measurements through feature classification. It has been proven that different feature extraction and classification methods vary in terms of performance regarding detection and di...
متن کاملOn the non-parametric multivariate control charts in fuzzy environment
Multivariate control chats are generally used in situations where the simultaneous monitoring or control of two or more related quality characteristics is necessary. In most processes in the real world, distribution of the process characteristics are unknown or at least non-normal, so the non-parametric or distribution-free charts are desirable. Most non-parametric statistical process-control t...
متن کاملApplication of non-parametric tests of significance to the market analyses
Common using of parametric tests to elaborate research results is limited by predetermined assumptions (variable measurability, normality of its distribution, homogeneity of database etc), which must be fulfilled. Otherwise, the conclusions obtained by calculating using a parametric test will not be quite correct. Parametric tests are useless also in the case of the quality data and the data of...
متن کاملThe influence of organizational citizenship behavior in improving the organizational performances
Organizational citizenship behavior has always been tested in the knowledge-intensive sectors of societies. Organizational citizenship behavior is a voluntary and discretionary behavior that is supposed to build up the cultural aspect of the organization; it is not part of the personnel's contractual tasks and can contribute to the successful implementation of the organization's objectives. The...
متن کاملA comparison of parametric and nonparametric approaches to ROC analysis of quantitative diagnostic tests.
Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, which yields indices of accuracy such as the area under the curve (AUC), is increasingly being used to evaluate the performances of diagnostic tests that produce results on continuous scales. Both parametric and nonparametric ROC approaches are available to assess the discriminant capacity of such tests, but there are no clear guidelines as to t...
